One Year Olds

Building bright beginnings that will last a lifetime, through play and imagination.

Our walking one year olds are forming their first words, experimenting with trial-and-error to solve problems, and learning to function as a part of a group. In this classroom, a flexible daily schedule is implemented and the children participate in a variety of planned large and small group, as well as one-on-one activities. Sioux Falls First Learning Center has four goals for your one year old child: to learn about himself and others; to master gross motor movement; to learn about the world; and to learn about communicating. Each of these goals has several objectives that include regulating own behavior, learning to be a member of a group, learning and understanding how objects can be used, and developing language skills. Our teachers use these goals and objectives to measure your child’s development and provide you with regular developmental feedback using the GOLD learning assessment tool. Sioux Falls First Learning Center utilizes The Creative Curriculum for Infants, Toddlers, and Twos to create responsive daily routines and meaningful learning experiences for our youngest of learners.
