Weekly sermon questions and notes for LC Groups to discuss
Jesus was the master communicator who knew exactly how to seal the truth in people’s hearts. He clearly demonstrated the effect that harmful words can have on our physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being. It is extremely important that we filter and remove words that pollute our spirit, we also have to eliminate the harmful words that have become our identity. The object lesson that Jesus provides is that the “curses” spoken over us can cause us to wither, lack fruit, or even die inside.
Jesus and the disciples got up one morning and were leaving Bethany and Jesus was hungry for breakfast. He saw a fig tree with leaves on it, which typically meant that there would be figs, but he didn’t find any on it. Then the disciples heard him SAY to the fig tree, “May no one ever eat fruit from you again.”
The very next morning the disciples walked by the same fig tree that Jesus spoke to and it was withered from the roots… it was dead. Jesus was the master communicator who knew exactly how to seal the truth in people’s hearts. He clearly demonstrated the effect that harmful words can have on our physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being.
no weapon forged against you will prevail, and you will refute every tongue that accuses you. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord , and this is their vindication from me,” declares the Lord .
Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ.
